The 9 PM prime time news on CNN-IBN was flashing a message about some problem that the locals of Lonavala created on the Big Boss set. The Bangalore Mirror (not that i expect too much from this paper!) had Ishant Sharma's haircut as the front page news. There are so many forwards that we get about the ridiculous news that is covered on Aaj Tak. I remember getting one which said Commisioner ka kutta bhaag gaya or something to that effect!!!
This kind of news reporting makes me laugh, but I wonder is this really something to be amused about?? Or should we be saddened by the fall that the media has taken?
I sometimes wonder when there are so many things to report about. numerous issues over which the media can debate around; why would they want to report about totally irrelevant and trivial issues. The media according to me is a very powerful medium and the reach it has it totally awesome and unbeatable.They can do a lot to make an attempt to improve the society and bring about a change.
Another point to ponder on, Is the media giving us what we want? And this I think disturbs me even more.

There is a very small percentage of people like us who look for relevant news in morning newspapers. The majority I guess still looks for some kind of gossip which the media is giving them. Had that been not the case, media wouldn't have been able to survive. :)

Thanks for ur comment and welcome to blogging.... Media is a powerful medium but now media in the name of freedom and democracy fails to deliver the news directly to people as it is. Even a smallest news item in the smallest newspaper is biased. I do understand they have to earn money that’s what advertisements are for. Media is a big business and they shouldn’t be selling the news. They really don’t have rights to filter the news and force their own views on the public. It’s the readers and people who have to decide the right. Though it looks like a laughing matter it is something really serious to think about.
